I was talking to a friend of mine about how we grew up and she was talking about how she also grew up on welfare much like myself. It started to really bring some memories back. I remember as a kid we used to eat government cheese, peanut butter and other surplus government products that the government gives away to the poor. my mom had to live on something like $250 a month in the 80's with 4 kids. We lived on this farm that some how she was able to pay for by working selling goods at a flea market. Frankly i really do not know how she did it. But it had me thinking about the big buckets of government peanut butter and cheese we used to eat. it did not taste bad really. I mean it was really orange i remember but did not taste bad. I mean me my brother and sister were so poor that the best meal we had as a kid was going to a church for a free thank giving dinner for the poor. I mean we had nothing at all but old hand me down clothes a diet that mostly consist of rice and oat meal and yet we were pretty happy.
We worked our asses off but that just built character in my life and thought me that I can and will do anything i feel like doing. I mean when i think about it anything I have ever put my mind to doing I have done. its not been an issue of CAN I DO IT its more of I WILL DO IT. I think growing up so poor gave me this attitude that anything can be done because all my life things have only gotten better. I mean if i grew up in a middle class family and received everything i wanted then I do not think I would appreciate what I have as much. I mean now when i have a nice car or a nice place to live I think to myself WOW I am really thankful for this. But if you grow up with no running water no electricity, no refrigerator. I mean nothing at all but some clothes and a few toys and a bunch of trees then anything from that point is much better.
It kind of gives you a will of steel to do anything. I mean i think this can effect different people in different ways. I mean all of my family never really went to school that much. My older sister went to high school for one day of her life yet she is now a huge rep at a major computer company earning high six figures and drives a BMW today. She has worked hard for what she has but she made it all the way up to the top with just a GED. my little bro runs his own web business and my older bro runs a major theater in the DC area. We all worked hard but even with lack of schooling we all have wills of steel to do what ever it is we want to do.
Now that will of steel I am thankful for.
on an unrelated note i love this video this girl is talented

High School the Musical
Ok so the first question that comes to ones mind is why is a grown man going to see "high school the musical". well I have a source that gets me free tix to allot of shows so i never turned dwon any of them. But yes I myself was even asking myself why was I going to this. I must say it was really really good. I liked it allot. I mean sure I was out numbed 2 to 10 guys to girls and sure there were lots of little kids running around. But the message of the play was that of grease and hoar spray mixed into one and i really enjoyed the message and the songs and dancing were good too. Would I ever tell my paint ball buddies hey I just saw high school the musical. No not likely but it was a good show.

Drinks and Dance - Poem or story
ok so its 2am now and once again I can not sleep. I keep having words in my head that seem like a cool story or poem. Who knows if its any good but for some reason lately i keep thinking up words and wanting to write them down. Like little stories in my mind.

Friday Night, Drinks and Dance
Walk up to through the line.
almost to the front door, its cold out side.
Nod from the big guy who stands tall.
you are accepted for entry
walk into the hall. This is where it all happens. That place where you can lose yourself, a melding of your mind with music lights and people all in once place and in one time.
Walk up to the bar. That oh so familiar spell of gin and tonic bruises your senses. You swallow it down. Its a chance to forget things for a minute or maybe a second at least. He used to drink beer but this stuff works much faster.
Glance from across the room.
blurred lights of blue and red splash on the walls like a full moon gone crazy with colors.
She smirks at you.
Her lips awash in red. Her eyes stair at you like she can see right through your soul.
You are shy but play it off like you have the moves.
I mean its whats expected of you or if not can you call your self a man.
You walk closer to her. She looks away like she does not notice you giving her attention. Attention she so wants and desires. You put your hands on her waist. Dancing to that new summer hit that is all the rage from LA to New York.
The lights blur more. Things move in slow motion. Sounds blasting your ears like an old speaker in the faded distance.
You pull her closer. Grabbing her ever so tightly. She does not pull away and shivers in your arms. The dances go on and on. This is what we call fun in our modern world. Cities built up higher and higher into the heavenly sky.
Time has gone by so fast. You lose her in the crowds. Where did she go. Was she only a dream. Was this night even real?
The drinks start to wear off. You crawl back to where you came from one step at a time, pulling your self across the street with only your arms.
What a cruel and exciting world this is. She is etched into your mind like a happy but sad dream. Did we really dance all night. Was she even real. You stop and stare into the ski. The starts are incredible. Why do they not look like this on a normal night.
You fall asleep into the night. Smile on your face. it was a good night or so it seems.

hmm interesting writing. No idea what it means. ok time for bed its way to late to be up on a work night :-)

My Super Bowl 2008
This was an amazing party but i think i let to many people in. We did have a little lack of chairs. I really felt bad i had to turn a bunch of people down to come to this but there was only so much space. my living room was wall to wall people and i think i only had about 21 people come. Thank god like about another 6 did not show.
But the party was awesome. We had a total battle and it was so dam funny. I mean people were freaking out when the Giants won. Well the video tells a better story then I can write. This is one funny ass video.
This video is crazy funny.

House Party In DC
So I hit up this house party in DC. it was held in one of them party rooms in a huge new complex in DC. my boy told me how much rent was there i think it was $2500 for a two bedroom or something crazy like that. pretty pricey for one person. But the party room was awesome. Great dance music and good drinks. Kind of more loungey for me as i was tired so i did more sitting and chatting then dancing. Friday kind of took it out of me.
High light of the night was me busting into the room where the girls were talking about something. They chanced me down and i think security came because they thought there was a fight. HAHA pretty funny.
Proof I was attacked..but lets say i did not hate it :-)

Corporate Greed

Someone posted this article below on the meetin web site and i thought it was a really good read. Its about how Costco treats its employees customers and share holders compared to Walmart. Costcos CEO seems like a really good guy. Most of these corporation are all about greed and the profit. They take everything leaving the common person who often does the hard work with nothing why the CEO of these companies rake in millions. The whole thought that you can not get rich with out abusing people is absurd to me. Why does my win have to be someone else loss. I always admired people who worked with there hands, worked hard and put in there time to made millions. usually the guys who makes billions ended up doing so only because they messed someone over. They let greed get to them and take them over. Not everything in life is about money. This is the concept I love most about sites like craig list and MEETin.org.
End result shop at Costco DO NOT SHOP WalMart because profit and greed is not what we want in our communities and some times you have to look out for each other as a community. Open the door for someone so they may open the door for someone else. A wise friend of mine used to always say to me "you do not want to be the richest man in the grave yard" and I agree with him 100%. :-)

Dreams - Just Do it

Its funny when i was a little kid maybe 14 years old I remember I wanted a VCR. They costed so much ( $200 back in 1987 ) but i saved and did it. I was the first person in my family to have one. Then I wanted a car worked hard and got it. Then I wanted to buy a home and after allot of hard work I did it. Then I wanted to teach my self how to program and build web sites so I could earn a good living. I just did it. I wanted to meet some new friends in the DC area and well let just say i did that too:-) Then I wanted to get into real estate more and well I did it. recently I wanted to buy a building to open a cafe a dream I have had for many years since I worked as a buss boy in a restaurant as a kid at age 14. With a little hard work, saving , planning and bargaining I did it.
What it all comes down to is if you set your mind to what you want its not hard to do it. No one can hold you back from your dreams. We all can do what ever it is we want to. Our dreams are only beginning. But doing it is the finish. If you have a dream to do something write it down on paper. Come up with a plan on how you plan to get there. Then JUST DO IT!!. Its not hard to do in fact its very easy. Anything we can image we can do. Just start figuring out where you want to go and get going :-)

4th of July Fun

Had a really good 4th of July. Had about 15 peeps over to my place for a nice small get together. We had so much good food it was not even funny. I think way to much. But it was oh so yummy. The high light of the day was everyone just hangin out on my front porch drinking a beer eating some great food talking and smoking a cigar. Lots of fun.
Then I headed over to my boys Brandon and Candice's house for a small while. Brought my swim trunks in case peeps were in the pool but when i got there they were just starting on the food part and I was so stuff from my bbq. No one was in the pool and everyone was looking to play some games. So got to say hi real fast and decided to join some other friends in down town DC to watch the fireworks from a roof top get together. We started off with some bubbly and I got to meet some peeps i did not know that were really nice. Ended up being a great fireworks display and then we all hung out in my friends place and chilled out afterworlds eating some awesome raspberry cup cakes and waited for the traffic to die down some.
ITS WAS A GREAT 4TH OF JULY :-)
